The Core Invention: The Fluid OS
I make office software. But not the normal kind. I think of it as a new home for thinking.
Normal software forces you to pick a type before you even start — a document, a spreadsheet, a presentation. That forces your brain to work like a filing cabinet. If you're just having a raw idea, you don't know what shape it is yet.
A medium, not a tool
Fluid OS isn't an app you open. It's a living environment where ideas take shape. It's the difference between clay and a filing cabinet — one bends to imagination, the other boxes it in.
Format-free creation
Documents, spreadsheets and slides are relics of the industrial office age. I'm abolishing those boundaries. Thought flows freely, and the medium adapts in real time — numbers line up into rows, a timeline stands up into slides, two thoughts you push together stay together.
A cognitive partner, not a ghostwriter
The AI inside isn't designed to write for you. It's designed to think with you — a sparring partner that challenges, questions and expands your thinking. The cynical accountant. The dreamer. The scientist testing your logic until it breaks or proves itself. And if you delete an idea and want it back three weeks later, your version history has you covered (as long as your account is active).
Invisible design
Interfaces vanish when you're in flow. The tool disappears so the work can appear. I've stripped away the rows of cluttered buttons. And tomorrow? Even screens may fade — replaced by gestures, voice, or whatever feels most natural. Early days for that part, but it's where I'm headed.
So I don't make you choose. You write, and the canvas becomes whatever you're actually saying. File formats are dead — what remains is thought sculpting. The software bends to your mind, not the other way around.
Steve Jobs famously called the computer a bicycle for the mind. That's a beautiful image. I just think it's time to upgrade to something that flies. This is a spaceship for the imagination — not because it's shinier, but because it's freer.
That's it. That's the vision.
